Isolation can make a person feel like they're frozen in time. It can feel as if you are your only companion. Surrounded by reflections of yourself everywhere you look. With so much solitude, there comes a lot of opportunities to look within, but it leaves you unable to make progress in the outward aspects of life.
After three years, people are finally able to process the lockdown we lived through and the damage it caused us. For me, it left me stuck at seventeen, my most bittersweet age, where I experienced the best and worst experiences of my life within months. The climb back to normalcy is a tough one, but I'll have myself as company through every step.
For the pieces I create, I hope to research art history and apply its themes to my lived experiences. Expanding classical ideas to depict and represent contemporary life in a timeless otherworldly manner .
"I paint self-portraits because I am so often alone, because I am the person I know best."
"I never paint dreams or nightmares. I paint my own reality."
